The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees approved a resolution at their monthly meeting on Monday night, proclaiming April as “Community College Month.” During the month, K-C will be hosting open houses at its education centers around the district. The public is invited to attend the events. The Open House at the Vandalia Campus will be held on April 17th from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, while the open house at the Greenville Education Center will be held on April 11th, also from 3:30 to 5:30.
In other business, the Kaskaskia College board approved several personnel moves. The board accepted the retirement of Vice President of Instructional Services Dr. Greg Labyak effective on June 30th. The board also accepted the resignations of Human Resources Director Beth Jones, and Nursing Instructor Lucinda Spencer. Board also hired Daniel Powell as the college’s new Audio/Visual Technician.
The K-C board also recognized K-C’s Postsecondary Agricultural Student team that just competed in the National PAS competition in Louisville, Kentucky. The group brought home two team national championships and several individuals national award winners.
