Fayette County native and resident Blaine Wilhour pulled off the victory on Tuesday, taking the Republican nomination for the 107th district State Representative seat. Wilhour took just over 60% of the vote throughout the 107th district to defeat Laura Myers and secure the victory. He says he believes his message of needed change in state government resonated with voters.
Wilhour was even stronger in Fayette County, where he took nearly 67% of the vote. Wilhour now moves on to the November General Election, where he will face Democrat David Seiler. The winner will replace John Cavaletto in the Illinois House.
