The Fayette County Board’s monthly meeting proved to be a short one, with action taken on several yearly items. Before moving to the consent agenda, finances were briefly discussed during the board committee reports as during the administrator’s report from Bellwether, it was noted that they were waiting on insurance and contract negotiations to finalize some financial items. It was noted by County Treasurer Rose Hoover that they could possibly be 3-4 months away from needing to borrow money again but Hoover said if they can keep spending in line, she is hopeful they could avoid that situation.
During the meeting, the board approved several yearly items including the appropriation of motor fuel tax funds for the payment of the county engineer’s salary and expenses, approved low bids for the motor fuel tax letting, approved an intergovernmental agreement for Shelby County to be the receiver and disburser of public transportation act funds to C.E.F.S. The board also approved an agreement with IDOT to replace a structure in Loudon Township and approved the reappointment of Gary Bartels to serve as a trustee for the St. Elmo Fire Protection District for a three-year term.
