The Illinois State Police have made two big drug arrests this week on Interstate 70, with the one in Fayette County allegedly resulting in the discovery of 361 pounds of cannabis.
Illinois State Police reports indicate that on Wednesday afternoon at 1:44 pm an Illinois State Police Trooper initiated a traffic stop on an RV for traffic violations on I-70 near St. Elmo. State Police say the traffic stop resulted in the discovery of 361 pounds of cannabis. The driver, 34 year old Christian Omar Peralta Martinez, and passenger, 33 year old Shawn Huvsey–both of California, were arrested on pending charges of Cannabis Trafficking, Possession of Cannabis, Delivery of Cannabis, and Calcuated Cannabis Conspiracy. Both are being held in the Fayette County Jail. The Illinois State Police say they were assisted in the investigation by the Fayette County State’s Attorney and the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force.
