(Harrisburg, IL) — It’s that time of year once again. Wildlife managers in southern Illinois are getting ready to close Snake Road in the Shawnee National Forest. The road is part of the path that dozens of varieties of snakes and amphibians use on their annual migration to and from hibernation or reproduction. Park rangers will close the road next week. Researchers will then spend the next few weeks studying the snakes and other creatures on their springtime journey.
