(Chicago, IL) — Illinois Republican candidate for Governor Jeanne Ives is defending a TV ad that’s drawn condemnation from both Republicans and Democrats. The ad accuses Governor Rauner of pandering to special interests and includes actors portraying a unionized teacher, a businessman, an illegal alien, a woman activist and a man in a dress portraying a transgendered person. Ives told a City Club luncheon the ad illlustrates legitimate issues and said that while it’s edgy, it’s not offensive. In the same appearance, Ives also said that she voted for Donald Trump in the GOP primary, but her spokeswoman later said Ives misunderstood the question. She actually voted for Ted Cruz.
