(Springfield, IL) — A Chicago lawmaker accused of sexual harassment at the Illinois Capitol is escaping punishment. The state’s new Legislative Inspector General yesterday said that there is not enough evidence to support the charges against Senator Ira Silverstein. The I-G said in a report that Silverstein behaved in a ‘manner unbecoming of a legislator,’ but did not violate the state’s ethics act. The woman who filed the complaint, Denise Rotheimer, says she feels as if she didn’t have any rights in the process.
