A 44 year old Vandalia man was re-sentenced this week in Fayette County Court. Judge Don Sheafor sentenced 44 year old Michael T. Fickes to 30 years for participation in methamphetamine manufacturing. Judge Sheafor gave the sentence on the 2014 conviction after hearing from three witnesses as well as an allocution statement from Fickes and recommendations from both Assistant State’s Attorney Brenda Mathis and from Public Defender William Starnes. Fickes was originally sentenced back in 2014 to 35 years in prison for aggravated methamphetamine manufacturing and for unlawful disposal of methamphetamine manufacturing waste. The appellate court upheld the disposal charge but had reduced the aggravated manufacturing charge, leading to the re-sentencing.
