(Springfield, IL) — It’s 2018, and it’s time that all schools in Illinois have a faster internet connection. That’s essentially the sales pitch from a handful of downstate lawmakers who yesterday suggested spending almost 60 million-dollars on a plan to connect more than 100 school districts with broadband internet. State Senator Andy Manar says high speed internet is one of the tools that students need to succeed in the modern world. The hope is to use 16 million-dollars in state money to leverage another 50 million-dollars from the federal government.
