(Marion, IL) — This was the fear all along. Downstate prosecutors say they’re not happy with all of the aspects of Illinois‘ new bail law. A new law for the new year allows suspects to essentially serve time and avoid paying their bail. Williamson County State’s Attorney Brandon Zanotti yesterday said he fears the change will allow some dangerous people to get out of jail quickly and possibly commit new crimes. Zanotti says the new law is a Cook County law for Cook County problems.
