A Sandy, Oregon man has been charged with multiple drug related felony counts in Fayette County following a weekend arrest. 40-year Clifton L Smith IV has been charged with one count of armed violence as information states that Smith is alleged to have while being armed with a handgun been in “possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver said methamphetamine.” That count is a Class X felony, punishable by six to 30 years in prison. Smith is also charged with one count of aggravated possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a Class X felony; one count of unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 2 felony punishable by three to seven years in prison; one count of unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, a Class 3 felony punishable by two to five years in prison as well as a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor count of possession of hypodermic needle. Smith made an appearance in Fayette County Court on Tuesday where he was advised of the charges against him and probable cause was found to detain. Bond for Smith has been set at $200,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on January 24 at 11am.
