The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield is adding a ring belonging to the President’s youngest son to it’s collection. The ring is engraved with Tad Lincoln’s name and made out of horse hair from his pony. Library spokesperson Chris Wills says it’s a great keepsake that they are honored to have.
Tad often rode his pony in a space between the White House and the Treasury Building where a Union Officer was stationed. He became friendly with the officer’s wife and gave her the ring. It’s been handed down in her family all these years.
