Harry J. Lewis, 91, of Vandalia, passed away at 2:35pm, Monday, December 18, 2017 at Fayette County Hospital.
Services will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia with Pastor Jerry Bagwell officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00am, prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Harry was born April 10, 1926, in Chicago, IL, the son of John Lewis and Olga (Richards) Nussman. He married Lela Ward on November 23, 1944 in Nokomis, IL. Harry was a truck driver for Vandalia Transit and A&R Trucking and member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Lela of Vandalia, son Harry Lewis Jr. of Acton, Maine, daughter Mary and husband James Cramer of Mt. Vernon, IL, son Lloyd Lewis and wife Deb of Greenville, IL, grandchildren James Lewis and wife Charlotte, Lisa and husband David Allis, Jason Lewis and wife Sheila, John Cramer, Dennis Cramer and wife Sherri, Tim Lewis and wife Bess, Mark Lewis and wife Rachel, Sarah and husband Neil Vanderkwaak, and 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
