(Scott AFB, IL) — There is a new commander at Scott Air Force Base in southern Illinois, and not because of a retirement. Air Force Lieutenant General Giovanni Tuck on Monday removed base commander Colonel John Howard from his job because Tuck said he no longer had confidence in Howard’s ability to command. Colonel W. Chris Buschur, who was the base’s vice commander, will assume command for now.
