The Illinois State Police handled two accident with injuries in Fayette County on Monday evening:
An Effingham man was injured in an accident on U.S. Route 40 on Monday evening. The accident occurred at 5:37 pm on Monday evening on U.S. Route 40, about 3/4 of a mile east of Fayette County Road 1125 East in Bluff City. State Police reports say that a vehicle driven by 40 year old Danny Spencer Hurrenn of Vandalia was traveling west on Route 40 behind a vehicle driven by 50 year old Richard W. Matlock of Effingham. State Police says that Matlock’s vehicle had his flashers on and an oscillating amber light on top of his vehicle and had stopped to deliver the mail and was starting to merge back into traffic at a slow rate of speed when the front passenger side of Hurrenn’s vehicle struck the rear driver’s side of Matlock’s vehicle. Matlock was transported by Rural Med to Fayette County Hospital. Hurrenn was issued a ticket for Failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
A Herrick teen was injured in an accident involving one vehicle and one tractor on Monday evening in Fayette County. The accident occurred on Illinois Route 128 at Fayette County Road 2950 North in far northeastern Fayette County. Illinois State Police reports state that a vehicle driven by 19 year old Malayne L. Seaton of Herrick was south bound on Route 128 when State Police say Seaton failed to reduce speed, striking the rear of a farm implement being towed by a John Deere Tractor being operated by 34 year old David Rodger Abendroth of St. Elmo. State Police say that Abendroth was towing a McFarlane Reel Disc that was damaged in the crash. Seaton was transported to HSHS in Effingham.
