It looks like there will be at least 3 contested races in Fayette County in the November 2018 general election. 3 county wide Democrat candidates filed their paperwork on Thursday to run in the upcoming primary and get ready for the general election next November. Ed Durbin filed his petition to run as the Democrat candidate for Sheriff. Durbin will face Republican Sheriff Chris Smith in the November 2018 election. Donna Thull filed her petition to run as the Democrat candidate for Fayette County Clerk. Thull will face Republican Clerk Vicky Conder in the general election. And, Lucas Watson filed to run as the Democrat candidate for Fayette County Treasurer. Watson will face Republican candidate Michelle Hagy. That is an open seat after Treasurer Rose Hoover announced she would not run for another term.
