The Brownstown-St. Elmo girls basketball team started their season off in a big way beating Shelbyville, 82-20, in their season and home opener. The Bombers got out to a quick 10-0 lead before the Rams could put their first points on the board and eventually led 44-11 at the half. The Bombers increased that lead to 70-18 at the end of the third and held the Rams to a single bucket in the fourth quarter to close out the win. BSE Coach Brian Pruett used his whole bench in the game and says the way the girls are able to be easily interchanged and not skip a beat is very encouraging for the season ahead.
Four Bombers scored in double digits with sophomore Claire Wilhour scoring 16 pints, senior Deana Shelton tallying 13 points, freshman Olivia Campbell finished with 12 points and senior Dana Shelton had 11 points in the game. The Bombers are 1-0 on the season and will be right back in action tonight as they start play in the Pana Girls Thanksgiving Tournament as they take on Christ Our Rock Lutheran at 6pm at Pana Jr. High School.
