A St. Peter man charged with two counts of murder made a brief appearance in Fayette County Court on Tuesday. 24-year old Alexander R. Beccue appeared for what was scheduled to be a motion hearing. However, Judge Don Sheafor was unavailable or court today and Circuit Judge Michael McHaney was presiding for the day. Fayette County State’s Attorney Joshua Morrison and defense counsel Ed Deters informed the court that they would like for Sheafor to hear the motions as he is the judge of record for the case to which McHaney did not object. The matter was instead set out for a pre-trial hearing on November 14 at 1pm. Beccue is charged with 2 counts of First Degree Murder, one count of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and one count of Unlawful Possession of Weapon by a Felon. Beccue was remanded back to the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections.
