(Chicago, IL) — The woman who helped create Chicago’s new police watchdog agency is officially announcing her run for Illinois Attorney General. Sharon Fairley says her experience making the transition to the new Civilian Office of Police Accountability shows that she can be effective as Lisa Madigan’s replacement. Fairley admits she’ll have to build a broad coalition of support to win next year, but wouldn’t specifically say she’ll seek the backing of state party boss Michael Madigan or Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
