A Vandalia man charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 13 made an appearance in Fayette County Court on Tuesday. 24-year old Ryan W. Moore appeared for a preliminary hearing. Moore is charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under 13 as information states that between the dates of June 30 and July 9, 2017, Moore allegedly “committed an act of sexual conduct” with a minor who was under 13 years of age. That charge is a Class 2 felony which is punishable by 3 to 7 years in prison. Following testimony on Tuesday from a Vandalia Police Department detective, probable cause was found. Moore then waived formal arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty. The matter was then set out for a pre-trial hearing on November 7 at 10am. Also at that time, the matter of a misdemeanor that Moore is charged with for violation of an order of protection will also be addressed as the two cases are now tracking together. Moore remains in the Fayette County Jail on $50,000 bond.
