The Vandalia School Board approved their budget at their meeting on Tuesday night. The budget will include estimated revenues of better than 13.6 million dollars—with 37% of that coming from local funds, 54% from state funding and 9% coming from federal funds. Out of the main operating funds, there are estimated expenditures of 14.66 million dollars—which would mean a deficit of 1.065 million dollars for this year but the district would still have healthy fund balances in all accounts. Vandalia Superintendent of Schools Rich Well says their budget is always “worst case” scenario, so they will likely come out in better shape than that.
And, Well says he also believes they will see more revenue under the new school funding formula. But, there just not sure how much.
The Vandalia School Board held a budget presentation, where the budget was presented to those in attendance and to the school board. And, the board later approved the budget by a unanimous vote. The budget can be viewed on the school’s website.
