(Cincinnati, OH) — Dexter Fowler came through to lift the Cardinals to a 10-inning. 8-7 win over the Reds in the opener of a three-game series at Great American Ball Park. Fowler tied the game with a solo homer in the eighth and put St. Louis ahead on an RBI double in the 10th. He finished with three hits and three runs scored. Reliever Juan Nicasio came away with the win despite giving up a run.

(St. Petersburg, FL) — The Cubs ran their winning streak to seven games with a 2-1 victory over the Rays at Tropicana Field. Mike Montgomery improved to 7-and-8 and Wade Davis struck out the side for his 32nd save. Kyle Schwarber homered for Chicago, which allowed only one hit. The Cubs lead the Brewers by three-and-a-half games in the NL Central with 12 games left. They play the Rays again tonight in St. Pete.
