An 11 year old Vandalia Juvenile has been arrested in connection with the damage of better than 2 dozen headstones in Fairlawn Cemetery. In a release from the Vandalia Police department it states “We received multiple tips yesterday from the public in regards to the criminal damage in our cemetery. As a result of those tips Vandalia Police conducted multiple interviews. At the conclusion of one of those interviews an 11 year old Juvenile from Vandalia was arrested for Criminal Damage to Property. The Juvenile is currently being held in the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center. The release goes onto to state investigation is ongoing with the possibility of further arrests coming. The Vandalia Police Department says they would like to thank Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman for offering reward money from the city. The Vandalia PD says they would also like to thank all the citizens that provided information and that have shared the information via social media.
