The recent school funding reform bill will mean major changes for some school districts across the state while others will see minimal of any changes as Senate Bill 1947’s components are put into effect. A new evidence based model that will affect financial aspects such as funding levels and property tax levels is probably the biggest factor while other include unfunded mandate relief. Vandalia Superintendent of Schools Rich Well says as far as those parts of the bill, it will be a wait and see approach with how Vandalia will be affected.
And with some of the unfunded mandate relief scenarios, Well says they just don’t make sense for the district.
The passage of Senate Bill 1947 will mean almost $500,000 more each year in funding for the Vandalia School District.
