(Chicago, IL) — The Cubs and Braves each hit three home runs and combined for 29 hits but the Cubs pulled away, 14-12, at Wrigley Field. Rene Rivera belted a grand slam in the second inning, while Javier Baez and Jason Heyward added solo shots for the Cubs. Anthony Rizzo nailed a bases-clearing triple and Jon Lester hung around for five innings to pick up the win. Cubs manager Joe Maddon says first baseman Anthony Rizzo is on a hot streak offensively.
Chicago needs a win Sunday to complete the four-game sweep. Freddie Freeman, Matt Kemp, and Rio Ruiz left the yard for Atlanta. Lucas Sims got chased after three-plus innings and fell to 2-and-5. The Braves have lost six of their past eight games.
