A St. Elmo man charged with attempted first-degree murder in connection with an early morning shooting Friday in Ramsey is expected to appear in Fayette County Court today. 24 year old Alexander R. Beccue is currently charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder, possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful possession of weapons by a felon. Count information on the attempted murder charge states that Beccue allegedly “with the intent to kill Joshua K. Smith, shot Joshua K. Smith in the head” with information from the unlawful possession charge states was a .38 revolver handgun. A warrant was issued and after a short search, Beccue was found and taken into custody Friday and it was also learned that the shooting victim, Joshua K. Smith, passed away due to his injuries early Friday afternoon. With Smith’s passing, Beccue could face an amended first degree murder charge. Beccue will be informed of his charges and bond amount which has been set at $1 million during his court appearance this morning at 11am.
