(St. Louis, MO) — Dexter Fowler snapped a 3-all tie with a grand slam in the seventh inning and the Cardinals held on to beat the Royals 8-6 at Busch Stadium. Fowler had five RBI in all for St. Louis, which overcame a 3-0 deficit after five innings to sweep the four-game, home and home series with KC. Tyler Lyons picked up the win in relief of starter Lance Lynn.

(St. Louis, MO) — Cardinals starting pitcher Lance Lynn is okay after taking a line drive off his head against the Royals. It happened in the top of the third off the bat of Lorenzo Cain. Lynn tried to duck, but the ball appeared to glance off his head and go into center field for a hit. Lynn popped up, rubbed his head, and, after conferring with the trainer, stayed in the game.

(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals continue their homestand tonight with the first of a three-game series against the Braves at Busch Stadium. Adam Wainwright opposes Atlanta’s Mike Foltynewicz in the opener. The Cards are second in the NL Central at 59-and-56, one game behind the first-place Cubs. They’re five-and-a-half out of an NL wild card spot.

(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals say “Rally Cat” is missing. After running out onto the field Wednesday night just before a go-ahead grand slam, a cat was retrieved from the Busch Stadium field by a worker and set down outside the stadium gates. Ushers tried to corral it when a fan grabbed the kitty claiming it was hers. The cat then reportedly escaped in Citygarden.
