(Milwaukee, WI) — Brett Cecil gave up a go-ahead single to Keon Broxton in the fifth inning as the Cardinals lost 2-1 to the Brewers in Milwaukee. Greg Garcia’s RBI single in the top half had just tied the game at one for St. Louis, which lost two of three in the series. Kolten Wong had two hits for the Cards, just missing a game-tying home run in the eighth inning.

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Cardinals make the middle stop on their three-city road trip tonight in Cincinnati. They open a three-game series with the Reds at Great American Ball Park. Mike Leake will oppose the Reds’ Asher Wojciehowski. The Cardinals are third in the NL Central at 53-and-55, four-and-a-half games behind the first-place Cubs.

(Chicago, IL) — Wade Davis gave up back-to-back home runs to Paul Goldschmidt and J.D. Martinez in the top of the ninth inning as the Cubs lost 10-8 to the Diamondbacks at Wrigley Field. Goldschmidt hit three homers in all as Arizona took two-of-three. Willson Contreras homered twice and drove in six for Chicago. The game was delayed three times by rain.
