Governor Bruce Rauner is cutting extra money for Chicago from a school funding reform bill. The legislation revamps the way the state doles out education dollars but Governor Rauner says it also includes additional money for Chicago Public Schools.
The Governor says Chicago teacher pension programs will have to be addressed in another bill. What happens next is up to lawmakers. They can accept this change or try and override them. If neither happens the bill dies and another measure will have to be drafted and passed.
