A Farina man has been charged with arson following his arrest a week and a half ago. 60-year old Charles S. Evans of Farina is charged with one count of arson as information states he allegedly “knowingly damaged a building, being a house that the Peoples Bank and Trust have interest in, without the consent of Peoples Bank and Trust.” The count is a Class 2 felony which is punishable by 3 to 7 years in prison. Probable cause in the matter was found on July 21 and bond has been set at $150,000. Evans has been appointed public defender William Starnes and will make his first appearance with counsel on August 18 at 11am at the Fayette County Courthouse. Evans remains in the Fayette County Jail on the $150,000 bond.
