(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner is changing his tune slightly on the issue of school funding reform. After days of demanding to see the reform bill passed by lawmakers so he could make changes in it, Rauner today called on Republican lawmakers to seek negotiations with Democrats over the weekend. House Speaker Michael Madigan responded by saying Rauner should sign the already-passed bill when he gets it Monday, but Madigan also named two of his members to take part in weekend talks. Rauner wants a deal done by July 31st so schools can open on time.
