(Springfield, IL) — The top Democrat at the Illinois Capitol is dismissing the latest special session as political theater. House Speaker Mike Madigan yesterday sent a letter to lawmakers explaining that there is nothing for the Illinois House to do during this week’s special session on education funding. Madigan says the Illinois Senate is holding on to the latest school funding plan. Madigan added that he doesn’t see a need to have lawmakers return to the Capitol, he’s urging Governor Rauner to simply sign the law and allow schools to open next month.
