(Pittsburgh, PA) — Brett Cecil surrendered two runs in the bottom of the ninth as the Cardinals lost 4-3 at Pittsburgh. Adam Frazier’s RBI single won it. Yadier Molina’s solo homer in the eighth had given St. Louis a 3-2 lead. It was Cecil’s fifth blown save. The Cards lost two-of-three in the series.

(Baltimore, MD) — Jose Quintana struck out 12 over seven innings of three-hit ball in his Cubs’ debut as Chicago shut out the Orioles 8-0 in Baltimore. Quintana was acquired from the White Sox last week. Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo homered for the Cubs, who open a series in Atlanta tonight.
