It has been a wild past few days for this area’s State Representative. Over the weekend, State Representative John Cavaletto was one of 15 Republicans that voted for the budget. Then, after the Governor vetoed the measure, Cavaletto voted against the budget on Thursday. Cavaletto says his original reason for voting for the budget was to try and help the state avoid falling to “Junk” bond status.
And, Cavaletto says the past few days have been filled with phone calls, emails and some ugly times for himself and his family.
Without Cavaletto’s yes vote, the measure passed with 71 votes—which was exactly the number that was needed for the Illinois House to override the Governor’s veto.
