Multiple media outlets are reporting the Illinois House has voted 71-42 to override Governor Rauner’s veto of a 32% income tax increase and 46 billion dollar budget—giving Illinois a new budget for the first time in nearly 3 years. This also means that individual income tax rate for the state of Illinois goes up from 3.75 to 4.95 percent. According to voting records, area State Representative John Cavaletto voted against the override today. Cavaletto voted for the budget over the weekend.
