(Springfield, IL) — Illinois lawmakers will spend their July Fourth at the State Capitol, deciding on a tax increase. Senate President John Cullerton yesterday said that he will call the 32-percent income tax increase for a vote today. Lawmakers yesterday questioned whether Democrats had enough votes to approve the five billion-dollar tax increase. Republicans at the Capitol say they will all vote against the proposal.
