It is Day Two of a new fiscal year for the state of Illinois and still no new state budget. After making progress on Friday, and passing an amendment for the budget by a 90 to 25 vote, no budget vote was taken on Saturday. The Illinois House is back in session on Sunday afternoon. The “Springfield State Journal Register” is reporting the House will vote on a budget revenue package today—and that package is said to contain a 5 billion dollar tax increase. The website for the Illinois General Assembly shows the House meeting at 2 pm this afternoon and the Illinois Senate not meeting until Monday.
