Marie R. Hodson, 92, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 11:09 AM, Friday, June 9, 2017 at her family home.
Services for Mrs. Hodson will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Hohlt and File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Monday, June 12,2017 at the funeral home and also one hour prior to services on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Marie R. Hodson was born December 30, 1924 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Levi and Rhoda (Hunter) Lape. She married Harry E. Hodson on July 31, 1948 in Vandalia. In her early years Mrs. Hodson ironed in home for many families and she was later employed by the Johnson, Stephens & Shinkle Shoe Factory and Crane Packing both located in Vandalia. Marie was a member of the Vandalia Second Baptist Church, Women of the Moose, and also the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Hodson is survived by daughters Sandy Schommer and husband Paul of Manteca, CA, Debbie Warner and husband Richard of Vandalia, IL, Sherri Hodson of Vandalia, IL, Cindy Hodson of Vandalia, IL; son Harry “Skip” Hodson and wife Dee of Vandalia, IL; brother Wally Lape of St. Elmo, IL; grandchildren Alan Woolsey, Heather Raleigh, and Cassie Warner; 2 Step Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; 9 Step Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Sue Dugan and Lou Berry, brothers Millard, Paul, Charles, Ed, and Steve Lape , and grandson “Little” Jake Thacker.
