The Vandalia City Council approved three TIF agreements at its first meeting of June on Monday night. The first TIF agreement approved is for Bright Beginnings Preschool/Childcare Inc. in the amount of $5,850 which will be used for the removal and replacement of the roof on the building located at 129 North 8th Street. The second approved TIF agreement is with Grubaugh Contracting in the amount of $32,040. The TIF funds will go towards improvements at the buildings at 114 and 116 South Kennedy Boulevard for improvements in the shared parking lot of the buildings as well as an updated AD compliant entrance to the building at 114 S. Kennedy. The building at 116 S. Kennedy is expected to be open again soon as Route 51 Diner while a new tenant is being sought for the building at 114 S. Kennedy. The third TIF agreement approved Monday night is with Wehrle Properties in the amount of $14,165. The funds will be used to repair the roof and paint the exterior of the building located at 1705 Veterans Avenue recently purchased by Mike Wehrle who is optimistic that a new tenant will be found in good timing due to the location of the building and things it has to offer such as loading docks.
