Illinois lawmakers are voting for a long awaited education funding reform plan. The idea is to more equitably dole out state dollars to districts around the state, so that the neediest schools aren’t shortchanged. Critics argue the bill contains a bailout for Chicago Public Schools, but State Representative Will Davis says there are no losers under the new formula.
The bill now goes to Governor Bruce Rauner, who has long been a proponent of revamping the funding formula but questions this particular proposal.
