The Vandalia City Council added one new liquor license to its municipal code while cleaning up a few others during its meeting Monday night. The council first approved the addition of a Class J license which permits the sale of beer and wine only in a video gaming parlor by a vote of 5-2 with aldermen Mike Hobler and Joel Rebbe voting against the motion. Following the approval for the Class J license, the council then unanimously passed an ordinance setting the number of Class J licenses at 3. With some current licenses classified under a different type of license, the city will reclassify those business’s licenses to the new Class J. With the reclassification, the council then voted 7-0 to approved an ordinance amending the number of Class A licenses to one in effect at a time and passed another ordinance amendment 7-0 to set the number of Class H licenses in effect at one time at no more than two.
