Legislative hearings are planned for a balanced state budget proposal that focuses on responsibility and accountability without new or higher taxes, according to the proposals sponsors. The taxpayer bargain introduced by State Senators Kyle McCarter and Dan McConchie on April 26th in an 18 bill package has been assigned to seven Senate Committees. Senator McCarter says it’s a positive step forward for the only “Live within our means” budget to be introduced in recent memory.
And, Senator McConchie says while the hearings are great news, the efforts continues for bi-partisan support for the budget plan.
McCarter and McConchie says the hearings are an opportunity to give taxpayers a voice in the budget process. And, to present a budget built on the financial reality every Illinois family faces. The taxpayer bargain plan balances the budget with major government reforms and will have a spending cap and more responsibility for the Governor—but without new or higher taxes.
