The City of Vandalia has gone many years without a City Administrator, but a familiar face will now fill the position following approval by the Vandalia City Council at Monday night’s council meeting. Longtime Executive Assistant LaTisha Paslay was approved by the council to fill the position with board members Mike Hobler, Joel Rebbe, B. John Clark, Andy Lester, Dorothy Crawford and Ken Hubler voting in favor of Paslay’s appointment to the position. New alderman Steve Barker was the lone no vote and alderman Russ Stunkel was not present for the meeting. And when questioned by Barker prior to the vote as to why the city was not going through the interview process again that the city did two years ago, Gottman informed him that many of the alderman and department heads felt that Paslay is a good fit for the position.
After approval was given to Paslay for the City Administrator position, a motion was also approved to employ Paslay at the City Treasurer by a 6-1 vote with Barker again casting the lone no vote.
