A 36 year old Vandalia man charged with 10 counts of child pornography who failed to show up for his scheduled jury trial last week, was arrested on Friday after a search by law enforcement for several days. Ryan J. Koontz failed to appear for the trial this past Monday, his lawyer then also failed to appear for the second day of trial on Tuesday. Law enforcement began searching for Koontz with a reward being offered by local law enforcement and CrimeStoppers for information on the whereabouts of Koontz. After initially being arrested and charged in 2014, Koontz posted 10% of his $300,000 bond at that time and had not previously missed a court date. However, due to his failure to appear for trial and the circumstances, bond for Koontz is now set at $2 million. Koontz is expected to make an appearance in Fayette County Court today. Koontz was set to face trial this past week on 10 counts of possession of child pornography. That case was delayed for pre-trial now on May 11th.
