The state would have to buy more American-made products under a bill passed by the Illinois House this past week. The measure requires the state to procure good from Illinois companies if possible. And, if not, at least from U.S. based businesses. The measure is sponsored by State Representative Jay Hoffman.
Opponents worry this will mean higher costs for the state. The bill now moves to the Senate for a vote.
