(Carbondale, IL) — Illinois‘ education secretary says universities in Illinois are getting 35-percent less from the state. Because the state of Illinois is paying 395-percent more for university workers to retire. Education Secretary Beth Purvis last week explained the math on pensions to school leaders in southern Illinois. Purvis says she understands universities in the state are having a rough go of it. But she says university leaders need to understand at where the state’s money is going.
