(Milwaukee, WI) — Adam Wainwright was the hero as the Cardinals dropped the Brewers, 6-3, in Milwaukee. Wainwright struck out nine over five frames of two-run ball to earn the win, and also plated four runs on a two-run homer and a two-run single. Randal Grichuk slammed an RBI-double and Seung-Hwan Oh struck out the side in the ninth to get the save. The Cards have won four of their past five games. Wily Peralta allowed nine hits and six runs to take the loss for Milwaukee. Ryan Braun homered in defeat.
Cubs Rally To Defeat Reds In Extra-Innings
(Cincinnati, OH) — Kris Bryant’s sacrifice fly in the 11th brought in the winning run as the Cubs beat the Reds 6-5 in Cincinnati. Anthony Rizzo hit a three-run home with two out in the ninth to tie it for Chicago. Jason Heyward and Javier Baez also homered for the Cubs. Chicago won its third straight. Tim Adleman held the Cubs to two runs and four hits over six innings and hit a two-run double. Robert Stephenson took the loss in relief. Cincinnati is 2-and-6 in its last eight games.
