(Springfield, IL) — Tuesday was moving day for Governor Rauner and his wife as they leave the governor’s mansion in Springfield for temporary quarters on the Illinois state fairgrounds while repairs are done to their Springfield home.
Governor Bruce Rauner invites foreign dignitaries to Illinois in the hopes those leaders invest their companies in the Land of Lincoln.
Rauner himself left Springfield early for campaign-style stops in Peoria and Moline to make his pitch for a compromise budget deal. Rauner told reporters in Peoria that he’s been hearing what he called “chatter” that lawmakers are getting close to the kind of compromise that he could support, namely one that includes pro-business reforms that he says are strong enough to “move the needle.”
