(St. Louis, MO) — Randall Grichuk singled in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Cardinals opened the season with a 4-3 win over the Cubs at Busch Stadium. He also hit a two-run homer. Seung-Hwan Oh gave up a three-run shot to Willson Contreras in the ninth, but got credit for the win.

(St. Louis, MO) — Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez was dominant in his first outing of the season, but settled for a no-decision. The right-hander struck out 10 while allowing just six hits and no walks over seven-and-a-third shutout innings. The only extra-base hit he allowed was a double to Kyle Schwarber.
