We are now just about 3 weeks away from the April 4th Consolidated Election. Although there are a lot of uncontested races, there are several contested ones throughout the county at the first glance at the ballot. For the City of Vandalia, there is one contested race and that is for Ward One Alderman where Joseph W. Crawford will face Steven M. Barker for the seat of retiring Alderman Jerry Swarm. Both Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman and City Clerk Peggy Bowen are running uncontested for re-election and also the other aldermen races for the city are uncontested, as well.
The Village of Ramsey will see a contested race for Village President and also voters will decide whether or not to allow liquor sales. Chris Wall, Dawn M. Cole and Roger A. Corrington are all three running for Village President in Ramsey. Also, Ramsey voters deciding whether or not to allow liquor sales. The ballot question says “Shall the sale at retail of alcoholic liquor be prohibited in the Village of Ramsey?”
There are contested race for Vandalia Township. Republican Beverly Daniels is running for re-election for Township Supervisor and is challenged by Democrat Jackie Willis. Republican Boyd Ledbetter is running for re-election as Vandalia Township Clerk and is challenged by Democrat Barb Mitchell. For Vandalia Township Trustee there are a total of 8 individuals running for four open seats. Democrats Lew Mitchell, Brian Donnals, Brian Holliday and Elden (Gene) Hicks are running along with Republicans Tim Metzger, Gary Ehrat, Andrew Vaughn, and Sheldon (Pup) Schulte.
Meanwhile, early voting is now underway in Room 103 of the Fayette County Courthouse.
